vintage engagement session

March 24th, 2010

Why so many photo shoots in such a short time? You’ll find out why in a very near future blog. This one was a lot of fun, a lot of work, and a ton of man hours to make it happen. I was inspired by other photo shoots and took elements from each to make it my own. With the help of my bridesmaid, Anh, we’ve been exploring and working on it on/off for the last 3 months. There wasn’t enough time as planned on that very day, but I think with what was given it turned out pretty great. It was an invaluable learning experience for future shoots that I hope to do for friends and future clients. All the photos shown in this post are shot by Duy; will share Benedick David’s once they are complete. Will also have another post of behind the scenes.

I got that white dress for only $4!

Like the green boots? They’re from Anh’s personal collection.

Robert’s 3 piece suit is Alfani slim fit.

I LOVE this shot of us.

The last shoot was all about me. Now it’s Rob’s turn to shine.

You have to agree that Rob definitely belongs to this club. The wording on this sign was decided on hours before the shoot. It was either that or GTL. This seemed more fitting and an idea from a Jimmy Kimmel skit. We will definitely be using it on the wedding day.

This might be my new framed photo of Rob to display at my desk at work.

Admiring my handsome man.

Random Facts:

  • white dress is $4 from a vintage pile of clothes that Anh dug thru to find
  • purple dress is from a vintage store for $20
  • pink dress is from H&M for $10.
  • brown manly chair from Salvation Army for $30. found it just 2 days before the shoot. anyone interested in buying it?
  • other furniture and accessories borrowed or from thrift stores.
  • Hoang, Heather, Steph, and John were also at the shoot as support staff.

Anh on that vintage pile of clothes searching for the perfect outfits.

mission sjc photo session

March 18th, 2010

The week leading up to this shoot was quite an anxious one. All week long the forecast was rain. I prayed everyday that the forecasters were wrong and that by Friday we’d see just cloudy/overcast skies. Although I do love cloudy day shoots–I for sure did not want a rainy one when I’m wearing my gown. By a miracle of some sort (probably from Anne’s rain dance) it didn’t start to rain until exactly 5pm when the mission closed its doors for the day. We were uber lucky and thankful to not see a single drop of rain until it was really time to leave.

I have so many shots I want to share so for all intensive purposes the ones featured in this post are just from the Mission that Duy shot. I will share studio ones in another post at a later date.  Enjoy!

Doesn’t Rob look so handsome?!? polished to perfection! His suit was custom made in Vietnam, it’s not the one he’ll wear on the wedding day.

i think this photo shows me most like Belle (my fav cartoon character)

this is the fiercest “model” look i can do

peek-a-boo at my blingin’ shoes
